Stamford Facing Higher Gas, Diesel Prices With Upcoming Fuel Contract

STAMFORD, CT – The City of Stamford is looking at higher gasoline and diesel prices for its fleet of 400 vehicles when a new fuel contract goes into effect on July 1.

STAMFORD, CT – The City of Stamford is looking at higher gasoline and diesel prices for its fleet of 400 vehicles when a new fuel contract goes into effect on July 1, according to the Stamford Advocate. The City works with the South Western Region Purchasing Collective, a group of area towns, to collectively bid on fuel prices in addition to other fuels and materials for City use.

City meeting minutes show that the City’s Board of Finance unanimously approved a $125,000 request to replenish the police department’s fuel account due to increased fuel use.

The City is also looking into a possible car sharing program, similar to what ZipCar has done in other cities.
